 Harebell
 Campanula rotundifolia

Other Names:  Scottish Bluebell, Witches' Thimbles, Fairy Bells, Old Man's Bells.
Distribution:  Common across UK.
Habitat:  Found in dry, grassy places in either sunny or partly shaded sites. It thrives on poor soils and prefers neutral to alkaline soils.
Description:  Native perennial of medium height with blue bell-shaped flowers from July to September.
Wildlife:  Food plant of the Northern Rustic and Ashworth's Rustic  Moths.

Sowing Instructions for Seeds:  Easy!  Sow seed in spring in a greenhouse or cold frame. When the seedlings are large enough to handle, prick them out into individual pots.  Plant the seedlings out into their final position in summer.  The germination rate may be improved by pre-chilling the seed for 3-4 weeks.

Our plants and seeds are of native British origin.
