Monkey Flower
Mimmulus guttatus

Distribution:  A British wild flower, which was introduced from Alaska before 1812 and is now found throughout Britain in wet places.
Habitat:  It thrives in wet places, especially beside streams and in marshy areas.
Description:  A medium perennial with yellow flowers from June to September.  The petals are intricately folded with 2 lips (upper lip has 2 lobes and lower has 3 lobes), giving the impression of a grinning face - hence the name.
Uses:  The plant is used in Bach flower remedies - the keywords for prescribing it are 'Fear or anxiety of a known origin'.

Instructions for Sowing Seeds:  Easy!  Sow seed in spring in a greenhouse or cold frame. When the seedlings are large enough to handle, prick them out into individual pots.  Plant the seedlings out into their final position in summer.

Our plants and seeds are of British origin.
