Planting
Instructions for
Wild Flower Bulbs
It
is important that you plant your bulbs as soon as you receive them.
Planting
Depth:
The size of the bulb will
determine how deeply it should be planted. Generally, the depth of
soil above the bulb should be equal to the height of the bulb, but there
are exceptions. Snakeshead Fritillary, for example, should be planted at
least 10cm below the soil surface to avoid depredations by mice and
other rodents. Here are some planting depths (ie from tip of bulb to
soil surface), but all of our bulbs will be labelled individually:
Snowdrops - 5cm
Summer Snowflakes - 10cm
Daffodils - 10cm
Bluebells - 5-10cm
Snakeshead Fritillary - 10cm
Wood Anemone - 2cm
Handling
Bulbs:
Care should be taken when handling bulbs as some may be poisonous and
others can cause skin irritations. Always wear gloves and wash your
hands immediately after handling bulbs.
